UNICEF gives full support to the government of Papua in the effort to implement awareness among the Papuans about the importance of sanitation through the program Sanitasi Total Berbasis Masyarakat (STBM). Aside from cooperation with government, UNICEF also cooperates with partners which are Simavi, Rumsram and Wahana Visi Indonesia to free regions and villages from the practice of open defecation. On this occasion, government representatives and public figures declared its agreement to the STBM program.
